Gift From God Builds New Homes

Today (June 25) is my youngest son’s birthday. I gave birth to him with excellent medical care in a trusted hospital and brought him home to a clean three-bedroom, air-conditioned home on 5 acres. We didn’t have much by American standards, but we had a lot compared to the ‘4th-world’ people: the people living around the city dumps in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The families there live in rows of connected tiny homes built with corrugated metal scraps. They may or may not have lockable doors, cement floors, toilets, walls or furniture, all depending on what the family has found in the dump or has been able to purchase.

In January, some faithful donors received an unexpected check and they felt God wanted them to gift it to someone who needed it more. The Escalando Suenos team we work with in the Guatemala City dump zone is in close relationship with the families living there, and they know the needs of most of the families. And so, because of this generous donation, two families will have a new home built for them. Manuel Monzon, the director of Escalando Suenos, tells the story of these two families:

The houses are being built in Colonia Manuel Colon Argueta, Landfill, zone 3 of Guatemala City; benefiting two families who have been blessed by the love and faithfulness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1-CEDIÓ CABINAL FAMILY: The one who has been in charge of the family is Mrs. Ana Cabinal Gómez, 40, mother and father of the family at the same time of 6 children who correspond to the names and ages of:

Agustín, 19 years old; Irma, 16 years old; Ana, 14 years old; Gaspar, 12 years old; Margarita Cabinal 8 years old, Julia Cabinal 4 years old.

And her sister-in-law also lives with them: Teresa Cedió, 57; forming a family of 8 members who live in the home.

Family History and History of God: Doña Ana's husband died 10 years ago due to an accident at the time when he was collecting solid waste by a garbage truck; From that moment, Dona Ana has been the one who supports her family with her eldest son, dedicating herself to being garbage collectors, and washing clothes in houses; the other children study.

One of her dreams was to have a house because when it rained, dirty water would enter.

One day Doña Ana had a dream where someone told her not to sell her land because God was going to give her a house.

The moment she was notified of the construction of her house, she was shocked that God responded to one of her requests.

Doña Ana is grateful to God because she is no longer going to suffer with issues of water and drainage, since there are quite a few in her family and some things were spoiled by the rain storms. “God touched the hearts of Escalando Sueños and the supporters to give me the house and for that we will always be grateful to God. We are happy because we will be better and have separate rooms to sleep separate women and men.” The Cedió Cabinal family also committed to take care of the house, accepting it as a gift sent by Jesus.

2. FRANCISCO PASCUAL FAMILY: In the Francisco family, in the same way, Doña Catarina Pascual José, 45 years old, has been responsible for the support of her family, replacing the role of father and mother; she has 6 children: Pedro Francisco 22 years old, Fredy Francisco 20 years old, David Francisco 17 years old, Luis Francisco 14 years old, Cristian Francisco 12 years old, Brandon Francisco 8 years old.

Eldest son Pedro is dedicated to making beds and composing them. Fredy son number two is dedicated to recycling beds. Doña Catalina is dedicated to selling underwear and works as a housekeeper; in total there are 7 members as a family, 6 of them have been part of Escalando Sueños.

Family History and History of God: They were abandoned by the father of the family since they were little; Doña Catarina has been the one who has been in charge of the family and they have trusted God and they have worked since they were little, they have made sales of different kinds to get ahead day by day.

On previous occasions they have asked for help to qualify in the construction of a house in other organizations; and because they could never quality, they gave up and left everything in the hands of God. They had always dreamed of a house in (cement) block where water would no longer come in, as all their belongings got wet. They never lost hope that God was going to provide a house for them.

The impact is great when they see the construction of the house, and help out; they are very grateful to God and to the Escalando Sueños program and to the people who make a dream come true.

“Many people do not have a house like the one we will now have!” Being a large family, they did not think this was possible for them. They commit more to God since He has responded to one of their dreams, and they are able to give testimony that God does exist and he is in control of everything.

Look at how much the heavenly Father loves us who allows us to be called children of God. And… we are! 1 John 3:1
